ReUse Centre opening in Harpenden

Keen to provide local residents with new ways to reduce waste, Hertfordshire County Council is launching a pilot scheme at the household waste recycling centre in Harpenden designed to increase the amount of waste that is diverted from landfill and reused.

When the ReUse Centre opens its doors on 29 March, the staff and charity volunteers at the Dark Lane site will speak to visitors to identify items suitable for reuse and ask them to divert it to the onsite ReUse Centre.

The ReUse Centre will be open to the public for donations and sales between 10am and 5.30pm, seven days a week. Anyone wanting to join the charity’s volunteer team to help run the ReUse Centre and work with site staff to divert saleable goods should email Carrie Reid at:carrie.reid@sueryder.org or call her on 07786 320171.
